Great to see a negative result trial on an Italian fibromyalgia published and discussed at industry conference . The bias for showing only positive result trials at conference is clearly being challenged. Only one trial was discussed today which showed a surprisingly huge placebo response for fibromyalgia and that it was statistically insignificant from a pregablin type medication response. Fibromyalgia continues to challenge clinicians and it is present in all cultures and causes enormous suffering . I became interested in it professionally when working with refugees coming from Iraq a few years ago, that they described a condition of total body pain – one that fitted our diagnostic criteria for fibromyalgia.
